HOw The Adoption process works at gmap

Many people looking to adopt from a shelter think that the process is identical to that of buying a pet from a shop. However, when it comes to adopting a dog in Lebanon from Give Me A Paw, there are 8 steps you need to take. Don’t worry, these steps are still very easy and the end result is well worth it!

Step 1

Even if you have a specific GMAP dog in mind, think about your household, budget, expenses, lifestyle, and other important factors. Realistically assess whether your dog of choice (or any dog) would fit these. Remember: Adopting a dog in Lebanon is a HUGE responsibility!

Adopting a Dog in Lebanon: How the Adoption Process Works at GMAP

Step 2

Once you are sure you can commit, fill the adoption form on our website and wait for our adoption coordinator to reply with an email. Please be patient, we are all volunteers and it takes us time to sort through the hundreds of applications we receive.

Step 3

Our coordinator will correspond with you via email to agree on a suitable time for a call in order to conduct an interview and ask you a few questions pertaining to your application. The email might be sorted into spam/ junk, so make sure to check there!

step 4

On the call, be honest and transparent. If you are a good fit, our coordinator will arrange a meet-and-greet between you and the GMAP dog you wish to adopt.

step 5

For the meet-and-greet, you will visit the GMAP shelter and spend some time with the dog you wish to adopt whilst chatting with our staff and answering some questions pertaining to the adoption.

step 6

After the meet-and-greet, we will arrange for a visit in which our staff will conduct a house-check to make sure that your home is a suitable environment for the dog you wish to adopt.

step 7

If your home-environment is adequate, we will have a “foster” or “trial” period which entails the GMAP dog staying at your house for two weeks, with constant communication and correspondence with our coordinator and team for the entirety of this period in order to ensure optimal comfort for both yourself and our dog.

step 8

If the trial period goes smoothly, then you can officially sign our adoption agreement, in which GMAP reserves the right to reclaim the adopted dog in the event of neglect, abuse, or future incompatibility. Congratulations, you have a new best friend! You have successfully adopted a GMAP dog and saved a life. Enjoy the rest of your days together.
