All About Volunteering for the GMAP Dog Shelter in Lebanon

Do you dream of working with or helping animals? Does it make you happy to help rescued dogs? Do you really want to make a difference for a dog shelter in Lebanon?

All About Volunteering for the GMAP Dog Shelter in Lebanon

If your answer to all these questions is “yes”, then you are ready to volunteer at the GMAP dog shelter in Lebanon!

So, how does the volunteering process work?

Here is everything you need to know:

There are two types of volunteers at GMAP:

1. On-site

2. Remote

What is the difference between them?

On-site volunteers will be interacting directly with the GMAP dogs, staff, and other volunteers at the GMAP dog shelter in Lebanon. They will be expected to be physically present at the shelter to fulfill in-person activities or tasks.

Remote volunteers can help us from afar. Depending on the task, they can do so from either inside of Lebanon or abroad. While not expected to be physically present at the dog shelter in Lebanon, our remote volunteers may be required to keep in touch with our staff and team via phone, email, or social media pages.

Roles

Naturally, on-site roles differ from remote roles.

On-site volunteering activities

  • Playing with the GMAP dogs, walking them, bathing them, grooming them, feeding them, training them, and giving them attention are all vital for the health of the dogs.
  • If you are interested in helping us with cleaning, construction, or organization, you can also choose to do so.
  • If there is a sick or injured dog residing at the GMAP dog shelter in Lebanon, you can also volunteer to help with his or her treatment (i.e. wound cleaning and dressing, medication, special feeding or care, etc.).
  • Delivery and transportation of Charity Shop goods, dogs, staff, volunteers, dog food, supplies, and other items to and from the shelter and to customers, associated partners, clinics, or suppliers is another on-site role.

  • Fundraising for events, planning, and implementing them is another on-site role as well.

Remote volunteering activities

  • We always need help with data collection, collation, and analysis.
  • Accounting is another important role.
  • Social media spokespeople can help us to keep up with the influx of comments, messages, and DMs we receive on a daily basis.
  • Social media managers can help us to manage our pages.
  • Content creators will aid us in creating interesting, engaging, and educational content for our audience.
  • Marketing volunteers spread our message so that we can reach more people.
  • Logistics managers can help our drivers and team be in the right places at the right times.
  • Outreach and partnership volunteers can help us to form relationships with other NGOs, companies, and individuals both locally and abroad.

Now that you know all this, here are the steps you need to take to become a volunteer at the GMAP dog shelter in Lebanon:

Step 1

Think about whether you’d like to volunteer remotely or in-person.
